Simple Recipe for "Shepu bhaji,” also known as dill leaves.

 Today we learn and know about Shepu (dill) :

"Shepu" is a green, leafy vegetable also known as dill.   Dill is also known for its health benefits, such as aiding digestion and providing essential nutrients like vitamin C, manganese, and iron.

  • Prepare the shepu (dill) : Wash the shepu leaves thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or impurities. Then Chop the leaves finely.

Green Special

Here's a basic recipe for Shepu with mung dal:

Ingredients:

1 cup split mung dal (yellow lentils), washed and soaked for 30 minutes
2 cups chopped fresh dill leaves (shepu)
1 medium-sized onion, finely chopped
4-5 garlic cloves, minced
1-2 green chilies
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
Salt to taste
2 tbsp oil
2-3 tbsp Water for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pot over medium heat. Add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Then add  chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped green chilies. Sauté until onions turn translucent.
  3. Add soaked mung dal and mix well.
  4. Add salt according to your taste. 
  5. Add chopped dill leaves and mix everything together.
  6. Add water and cook until the mung dal is soft and cooked through.
Serve hot with chapati or rice.
This version will have the mung dal and dill leaves cooked together without gravy, making it a simple and nutritious dish. Enjoy!
